“Are we in Spain yet?”
Asked just three minutes after leaving Hayling Island.
Followed closely by:
“But my tablet battery is already on 97%… what if it runs out before we get there?”

A very serious concern.
“Mum… do planes have seatbelts?”
Silence in the car.
Then:
“Because if they crash, I don’t want to fall out of the sky.”
Then:

Comforting thought for everyone involved.
“Is this a hotel or the airport?”
Said while driving past Tesco.
Fair question. Both sell snacks.
The Snack Negotiations
We often hear:
“But I already ate my travel snack!”
“Yes, but that was my pre-travel snack. I need my journey snack now.”
“But I already ate my travel snack!”
“Yes, but that was my pre-travel snack. I need my journey snack now.”
Apparently there are different categories of snacks we weren’t aware of.
The Expert Traveller
One small passenger once announced very confidently:
“I’ve been on holiday four times. I know how airports work.”

Two minutes later:
“Why is everyone walking so fast?”
“Why is everyone walking so fast?”
The Sudden Realisation
Just before reaching the airport:
“I forgot my teddy.”
Pause.
“But it’s okay… he can have his own holiday at home.”
“I forgot my teddy.”
Pause.

Very mature. Slightly heartbreaking.
Why We Love Family Journeys
These trips are always full of excitement, nerves, laughter and lots of questions like:
